ABOUT  YOGI  CENTRE

Christina Lamprecht

I have been attending yoga classes for the last 30 years - whilst I began my journey finding a class in which to stretch and exercise, as I've travelled along the way I have gradually started to change my practice along with my lifestyle. I remember at one point thinking "what is it with all this breathing?" Yet now, the rhythm of the breath helps me deepen my practice, calms the fluctuations of my mind and leads me to find my way home to my inner me, the 'real' me.

MY
YOGA
JOURNEY

After studying a foundation 'BWY' course for a year I felt like Pandora's box had been opened - a thirst for the philosophy and tools of yoga. I then embarked on a 4-year advanced teacher training and therapy course with Colin Dunsmuir. After coming from a background of physiotherapy the Eastern Approach to Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy really captured my attention. The course was so much more than I could have hoped for - it was a complete journey of self-discovery and knowledge which deepened my yoga experience and gave me an innate feeling that I needed to share the many benefits of living a lifestyle in tune with your inner self, and attaining an everyday practice which helps you to move toward your inner self and purpose.

AN  INSIGHT  TO MY  WORK

Through my teaching I hope to enable clients to discover their own unique abilities and inner self, and acquire some mastery of the ‘monkey mind’. Group classes are very beneficial to enhance self-study, and discipline of practice. 1-2-1 classes allow a practice specifically tailored to your own needs and can meet you where you are at, and assist you to move in an evolving way forwards to your best self. Working with the science of Ayurveda and specifically with your unique dosa can have powerful, long lasting effects on your life.
Through the tools of yoga, inner contentment can be found.

MY  QUALIFICATIONS

I have always had an interest in rehabilitation and wellbeing. I studied a BSC (Hons) in Physiotherapy, and qualified in 1999, working in hospitals, mainly in Musculoskeltal Outpatients. Once I had a family, I began to look for opportunities to further my interest in Yoga. Finally, after completing a BWY foundation course in Yoga, I embarked on a four year teaching and yoga therapy course with Colin Victor Dunsmuir. The teaching qualification included over seven hundred and fifty hours of training in the lineage of Professor T. Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar, and is accredited by the BWY. The studying of yoga is a life long journey, which I am continuously learning more and more from. I am beginning to develop a real interest for it's sister science of Ayurveda, which I am already implementing into my practices and therapy sessions.
